Kelly Stevens
Dr. Stevens’ research focuses on fabricating engineered tissue systems to understand and treat global heart and liver disease. Her lab is developing new technologies to assemble synthetic human tissues from stem cells, and to remotely control these tissues after implantation in a patient. She is also working to develop micro patterning and bioprinting techniques to create pre-patterned blood vascular cells that morph into functioning human blood vessels to increase the survival rate of implanted cells. This work has applications in heart and liver regeneration science. Dr. Stevens is a member of the Institute for Stem Cell & Regenerative Medicine, Center for Cardiovascular Biology, Molecular Engineering & Sciences Institute, and Center for Synthetic Biology at the University of Washington.
